What a busy but fun week!
We were so impressed with the behaviour and reflective practice the class showed during their first reconciliation service at school. We would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Meehan for giving up her time to play the piano at the service. It really added a special touch.
The children have worked hard on understanding the 3 categories of rock this week. They have also set up an investigation to test the hardness of various rocks. In art we have made fossils, using clay and mod-roc.
In English we held a debate on living in the Stone Age versus the modern day. It was very interesting and we certainly have a few politicians amongst us. I was amazed at how many children prefer the Stone Age!
In maths we have been looking at statistics and bar charts. Next we are starting on column subtraction, with exchanging. We all know this method so please practise with your child as much as you can.
We enjoyed watching the KS1 nativity dress rehearsal yesterday and it has really got us feeling festive. In RE we have been focusing on the nativity story and this week the children have started to write newspaper articles, as if they are in Bethlehem reporting on the events taking place in the stable.
There are lots of Christmas events coming up during the last couple of weeks. Next week we have the auditions for Strictly X Factor, which takes place in the final week of term. If your child would like to enter please make sure they are prepared for the auditions which are on Wednesday next week.
A final reminder that all uniform must be clearly labelled. We are finding lots of jumpers and cardigans that are not named so we are unable to return them to the correct owner. Thank you
