Celtic Harmony Camp

What a wonderful day Year 3 have had at Celtic Harmony Camp!

It was fantastic weather, the children were  delightful and it was an amazing place to learn about the Stone Age to the Iron Age!

We have made arrow heads from soap, created fences out of wattle and learned how to be Celtic Warriors before we got to trade in Celtic money and buy souvenirs from the shop.

Everybody returned safely and we had lots of lovely comments from the children as to how much they enjoyed the day.

Drumming workshop - Art Week

What a great drumming lesson! We learned all about the instruments played at Carnival in Brazil.

The children could make as much noise as they wanted, as together, we created a piece of percussion music.

NOISY was the finished result..... but fantastic fun!

After our percussion lesson we then made bright, vibrant CARNIVAL posters.   Take a look!

Thanksgiving Mass

A huge thank you to all the children in Year 3 (and Daniel from Year 5) for being such super stars this morning. They all looked absolutely wonderful and we were very proud of them all. Thank you to all those who managed to attend and help celebrate Mass with us.

We went on to have a lovely afternoon - sharing party food, playing party games and having extra playtime in the sunshine - thank you PTA reps for providing all the goodies for the party!

We look forward to a fantastic Arts week next week, as well as our Celtic Harmony trip on Wednesday! :)

Summer Days

Well we have come back after half term refreshed and ready for lots of exciting things.  This coming Friday 15th June, we will be celebrating our Thanksgiving Mass and giving thanks for all of the children making their First Holy Communion this year.  The children will change into their First Communion clothes at school and after Mass they will change back into their school clothes for an afternoon of fun activities and a little in-class party.

On June 20th, 3W will be visiting Celtic Harmony Camp as part of their Topic work on Prehistory and we have a full day of activities to look forward to.  The children can dress up in a very simple costume but it must be comfortable for them to wear all day.  We are asked to bring wellies and a packed lunch with as little waste as possible.  All the details have been sent home with the children.  If you have not yet paid, please do so asap.  Thank you.

In class we have just finished an interesting English topic where we studied the Legend of King Arthur and the Round Table.  The children really enjoyed the story and discussing the layout of the comic strip text.  Our maths lessons have been looking at multiplication and division.  It was very easy to identify the children who do and do not know their 2,3,4,5,and 10 times tables!  Please spend some time with your child practising and learning these tables.  It is so important and gives them much more confidence when we look at problem solving in class.

Our PSHE "Changing Me" got off to a good start and we had fun and learned a lot about what it feels like to have a new baby in the family.  All of them agreed that it would be noisy and that the older children would have to become more independent, which is not such a bad thing!

The week beginning June 18th is Arts Week and there are lots of activities planned.  We will also be learning about Islam and designing a mosque which is  always a successful and very valuable learning  experience.

As you can see, we are very busy but learning lots and having fun at the same time!
