After a much needed half term, to recharge our batteries, the second half of the term has got off to a busy start. Yesterday we celebrated All Saints' Mass and I was so proud of 3W, who read their Bidding Prayers so beautifully and were extremely reverent throughout. Not only that, the Bidding Prayers had actually been written by the class. We took all of the children's work to create the final prayers for Mass and they were so sincere and meaningful.
Next week is our Rocks and Fossils Day, this should be a great learning experience for the children and ties in well with our new History topic on The Stone Age. In English this week we have started to look at autobiographies and our aim will be for the children to write an autobiography of their own. It has been fascinating listening to some of the key moments in their lives that are so important to them.
In PSHE we have been talking about celebrating differences in ourselves and in our families. The children loved listening to each other and spotting similarities and differences in their own families. We are coming to the end of our RE topic called Promises and it has been a very valuable experience. The children are now very knowledgeable of the Baptismal Rite but also the deeper issues that make parents want to have their children baptised as Roman Catholics and Christians.
Please ask them about this, you will be enlightened by their answers and insight.
We loved meeting with you all at the parent consultation evenings. They were very positive occasions and it was extremely useful for us as teachers but it also gave us the opportunity to share with you how your children are coping with the challenges of Year 3.
Don't forget that our class assembly is on Friday 8th December! You don't want to miss it!
