The children have come back to school refreshed and ready for another busy and enjoyable term. We have already begun our Mayan topic which the children are thoroughly enjoying. We have also started our science topic looking at the human body and comparing it with the skeletons of other animals. Our English topic is all about legends and this week we have been using film clips to help the children create some wonderfully descriptive battle scenes!

This morning we had our first CuesEd session and the children were wonderful, as always. The ladies running the session couldn't believe how engaged and well-mannered the children were and were amazed at some of the children's knowledge of the brain and how it worked. I am sure they will prove really valuable sessions and we will keep you posted about what we have been doing.

Next week we will continue to use film clips to explore the features of legends and will be looking at the properties of shapes and measurement in maths. The children will also be designing a healthy sandwich in DT in preparation for making these in a few weeks time!

A final note - the maths homework sheets for this term will be linked to what the children have been learning that week and will be allocated to the children on Abacus. However, some children have pointed out that they are having trouble opening the games and worksheets on Abacus at home. Sometimes this is because the computer is 'blocking pop-ups' and so if this is happening with your child you may want to check to see if this is the reason. We will have hard copies of the homework sheet if the children need them.
