World Book Day

I thought that I had walked into Hogwarts as the children arrived yesterday and we had so many Harry Potters and other characters from the books. We had a wonderful day, celebrating 'World Book Day'. The children all looked amazing - thank you for spending time and effort on their costumes. The children always enjoy a chance to dress up and the day was full of fun activities.

In the morning, the children spent some time writing the battle scene from the legend 'Dragon Slayer'. This current English topic of 'Myths and Legends' is really capturing their imaginations! We then began to decorate our classroom door as the front cover of the book 'Matilda' and it looks great - you will of course be able to view this for yourselves at parents evening next week. Mrs. Miles was kind enough to come and read a wonderful story with the whole of year 3 in the library. The children loved the time they had to just sit quietly and listen to a story being read aloud. Thank you again, Mrs Miles!

The afternoon was then spent in the hall where we got to see all of the amazing costumes that everyone in the school was dressed in. The parade is always really enjoyable and the children love seeing the range of characters people choose to be! Here are just a few pictures from the day:
